The Masks

Four masks interlocked in dreadful stare

Observation changing all before

Entangled weave of gazes entwined

To make all, that once was not,

Now there

Four masks caged in pained haunt

To build, To burn, To act, To plan

A raging storm with no end or halt

The vortex spiral of dreamland

Four masks making haste to plan all fate

Fighting for a secure place in the abyss

Longing to fill a thirst they cannot sate

Creating chaos in darkened mist

Siren's Preparation February 12, 2010

Being shot through time was like traveling at high velocity through dark electric slime that you could not see. You could smell it and feel it but due to the intense light of the process your eyeballs had to be gagged by opaque black goggles from the artificial sun machines Feinburg had perfected in his perfect anger.

Time was now irrelevant to Feinburg but the year was 2715. The moment in the precurse, the historical record, had arrived to seize Axis. A war item that has been on Siren's mind since her first encounter with it's owner thousands of years prior. Feinburg has her scouring the universe for items that may lay harbringer to the doom of thousands, yet still she seeks. A truer mercenary never existed. For if he paid her enough she would seek out Escheton itself, the point at the beginning and end of the universe.

Siren made herself ready in the anteroom watching and rewatching the tapes of where the players positioned themselves. She liked to refer to them as players to maintain a casual detachment to the world around her. She studied for the proper moment for her attack to decide whether an overt or covert option would be most prudent.

She decided at last on covert not for bravado alone, but also for a fresh chance to test her ever growing array of weaponry and skills, which she rarely turned down.

"Siren there are a few things we need to discuss. Have you finished reviewing the scenario?" spoke Feinburg in a Gruff but caring manner.

"Yes I am ready as ever." spoke Siren.

They walked in tandem down a long sterile hallway filled with light. Their gait suggested one of dear friendship. Siren sensed that Dr. Feinburg was about to tell her something of great bearing as this was somewhat abnormal protocol before mass confrontation. Feinburg opened a door to the right several meters down the hall.

It was a large open white room with no decoration at all, completely bare. He then spoke several commands and a large transparent screen dropped from the ceiling one millimeter thick and brought up the ritual scene at the approximate point Siren was to join in order to acquire Axis. He pointed to Graven and stated somberly.

"This man has the ability to do great harm to you. He has already defeated your methods twice and the time for subtlety has passed. In this circle the only one foreseen to ever harm you is Graven. Do not underestimate him again!" This outburst was not typical of Dr Feinburg and it took Siren by surprise."Once you are in you have five minutes to obtain Axis.Time is precious and finite when you are sent back into it and one can loose one's sense of self and purpose. Do not forget that time is a commodity which only I allow you to barter in. Do not disappoint me."

They both walk back into the hallway and into the (war room) where she triggers a sonic emitter in her inner ear before it begins to blare metallic music. Siren undresses and prepares her body for the necessary injections for the trip. Tryptamine solutions for hightened night vision and alertness. A Sulfate mixture of Amphetamine and adrenaline spliced with endorphin for added strength and agility has now been injected. And finally as a last resort in case of death a lethal dose of Lysergic Dyethylamide Dymethyltryptamine 1000 micrograms to trigger hallucinations of psychadelic frenzy as her dying wish, should it come to that.

Siren dresses after the injection preparations are complete in her standard issue black scaled trench coat and slips into the dry chamber that houses her guns that she has spent the night with cleaning loading and checking for safety as she always does her self before a mission and lays down in the chamber.

Feinburg gives a determined nod to Siren and he closes the transparent glass as it begins to be engulfed by a translucent plasma that thickens and rises to the point where Siren can no longer be seen. The plasma now becomes a hard crystal casing solid as steel. He pushes her crystal casing into the green electrical soup that will send her back in time to the ritual in an attempt to steal Axis from Graven

Siren arrives about (two kilometers from the ritual and twenty minutes from the time Graven will yank Axis from his head). In silence an in focus she makes
