And so they focused on the ramp ascending the Gaia tree. All traps and weapons had failed up to this point and the golem trudged on dragging nets and logs behind it. Suredly it began to ascend the slope. The pitfalls placed along the ascent were failing as well. Every time Iboga approached one, it was if he sensed the deceit. The golem would kneel down, and then leap forward, shaking the ground with each landing and traversing the pits.

The crowds gathered and ultimately the only thing standing in the way of the golem and the tree was Graven, all the pitfalls had been traversed. He fell back to the plan and marked the rune for ice upon the steep ascent. The entirety of the ramp grew cold and wet as the water condensed before finally a sheet of ice covered it. The golem ignored it at first then two steps later the friction anchoring the machine collapsed. The machine began to slip down the gradient and after mere moments it was crawling to maintain whatever footing it hoped to hold.

Graven laid there upon his back, it was obvious parts of him were broken. Kalyx ran to his side there upon the ground.

"No Kalyx, you mustn't. You don't understand! The tree is dark, the only light in the tree is your mom and when she was taken in it calmed the stormed heart of the tree. If you call to her, if her guard slips, there is no telling what darkness will awaken during the distraction.

This is kind of what I have in mind for the end of the book


Graven stood there in the silence after the relic's energy transpired and the husk was before him. The Book of IND sat in his right hand and in his left he now held the ported mind of a machine, the third part of the book. The first part, the book of the body, was born on the wings of coral's death and written in the script of her blood. The second part was transcribed on pages born of soul wax and burnt into reality, the book of the soul. Finally the third part sat within his fingers. It was nothing but a small drive, and now the fate of the universe and all life hung in the balance of his fingertips. This was the book of the mind. Together, Mind, Body, and Soul the book would lay completed and as he sat there reflecting he wondered if it was worth living again. He knew within his
heart he was the one, the final keeper of the book, the one observer to end with all things.

As he held the drive in his palm a door made of pure mercury manifested itself. It stood there stark against the bright white background and he knew it was time. As he neared the door began to pulse and as he touched it so was his body drawn within. He stood at the echelon of all time and space and where he expected some mystery or majesty all he found was a lodge...

Here at the end of all things was a cabin. Each wall made of logs and each wall adorned with a different masks. The four masks that made all things sat with their accomplisments annointed in paintings and pictures. The grand timeline of their efforts and milestones. In the far corner sat a crow upon a comfortable sofa chair. It turned to acknowledge Graven before dismissing his presence and making comfortable it's perch in
front of the fire
